One thing we see time and time again is poorly applied seals. Incorrectly applied seals can ruin the overall look of a beautiful floor and also fail to provide the protection the owner is looking to achieve.
The preparation and choice of sealer are the most important aspects of sealing your grouting and natural stone tiles.
There is a lot of preparation required for sealing your grout and natural stone flooring. Its not just a case of painting it on and leaving it.
Before you start sealing your stone such as limestone flooring or tile and grouting, it must be deep cleaned . Failing to get the floor clean, you may end up trapping dirt under your seal and having a layer of dirt on your stone floor that’s much harder to clean.
Most natural stone is porous and many grouts are too. With this porosity spills and even dirty cleaning solutions can soak into the flooring. The best way to clean the floor is to machine clean the floor and extract the dirty water.
We use a combination of rotary cleaning machine and contra rotating brush machine to gently agitate the surface of the floor and release the ingrained soil. We then rinse and extract the excess and soil. Our thorough deep cleaning process will get your floor beautifully clean and ready for sealing once its suitably dry.
There are two main seals available. Penetrating & impregnating sealers and a Topical surface seals. We love to apply impregnating seals. They provide outstanding protection and don’t change the appearance of the floor. We apply our floor seals by hand and then either hand buff or use our oscilitating pad machine to buff the floor after each of the two or more applications.
Our seals can even help with incredibly porous terracotta flooring as well as limestone, travertine and grouting.
