These beautiful crafted floors should be the Centre piece of Victorian and Edwardian homes but these period floors are so often not. What’s the first step to get your Victorian floor back to looking great?
Give me a call or send me an email. We will often initially ask for some pictures of the floor or if you prefer arrange a visit to take a look. Once we have the pictures of your floor and an understanding of what you are looking to achieve, we can provide you with some options to get your floor looking great again. Depending on what your tiles / floor needs, it might just require a thorough deep cleaning to remove surface soiling and ingrained dirt of the tile and grout or a full restoration of the floor including honing or polishing if required. Stripping and Deep Cleaning
With what can be a century or more of dirt to be removed and the possibility of carpet adhesives and layers of topical seals applied over the years too these floors can require professionals like us to transform them into the statement peice of your home.
Our usual approach on victorian floors would be a combination of strippers to remove the gunk from the surface and then a deep clean with a suitable alkaline cleaner with possibly some honing powder and or diamond imprgnated pads, possibly acid wash, Ph neutral clean and then seal with a colour enhancing impregnator. The colour enhancers really help to make the colours pop but application is subject to moisture levels and sometimes especially with floors laid on earth they don’t get low enough.
