We began with a thorough deep clean of the floor. The difference was actually amazing, the floor released years of built up dirt. Luckily unlike many period floors this one didn’t have layers of topical seals that needed removing. We began with our alkaline deep clean using Faber products. These were worked with our smaller rotary machine before being extracted and the process repeated. Once the dirt was removed we moved onto a pad clean with a Ph neutral cleaner and than padded the floor dry with white terry towels. 

The floor was then allowed to dry for a few days before being protected with a solvent based impregnator that reduces the porosity and ehnance the colours.
