Damp Limestone Floor in Malmesbury, Wiltshire

Following some building work this stone floor was in need of restoration. The roof had been off and had been suffering leaks before that too. The flooring was left damp and covered over for the building works. Now this 15+ year old limestone floor needed some professional TLC! 

We began by honing the floor to open it up and allow it to breathe and dry out. Luckily the weather is great and its in a sun room with lots of glass. Combined with air movement the floor moisture levels came down well within a matter of days. 

with a thorough deep clean of the floor. The difference was actually amazing, the floor released years of built up dirt. Luckily unlike many period floors this one didn’t have layers of topical seals that needed removing. We began with our alkaline deep clean using Faber products. These were worked with our smaller rotary machine before being extracted and the process repeated. Once the dirt was removed we moved onto a pad clean with a Ph neutral cleaner and than padded the floor dry with white terry towels.
